The problem

Data center power is a dense, technical subject. Information is easy to find, but it’s scattered and hard to absorb, so newcomers struggle to see the big picture: what a data center must solve to stay running, and how the power chain connects it all.

The solution

I turned general industry information into a focused, interactive microlearning in Storyline. Wattson, a friendly mascot, welcomes learners and guides them through the topic.

Learners explore five challenges at their own pace: power availability, efficiency, power quality, scalability and reliability. A final quiz has learners pair key facts with each challenge to check their understanding.

Wattson, a friendly plug-shaped mascot, introduces the module and its three learning objectives: identify the five core challenges facing data center power infrastructure, explain why power availability has become the primary constraint on data center design, and apply these concepts to prioritize solutions in a realistic scenario Storyline slide titled What Data Centers Must Solve, with five clickable panels: power availability, efficiency, power quality, scalability and reliability/uptime
Inside the microlearning: Wattson sets three clear learning objectives, then learners click each panel to explore one of the five challenges, then put their knowledge to the test.

Meet Wattson.
